Fezzan

Fezzan, nordafrikan. Reich, das sich südl. von Tripolis in die Sahara erstreckt, meist aus Wüste und kahlen Hochflächen bestehend, mit einigen fruchtbaren Oasen und Thälern. Der dem Bei von Tripolis zinsbare Sultan residirt in Murzuk, einer Stadt von 20000 E.; wichtiger Handelsplatz besonders für den Sklavenhandel. Andere Orte: Dschermeh, Sokna, Zuila, Traghan, Sebha, Tegerry, Meshruh, Wells.
