Inspiration

Inspiration, lat.-deutsch, das Einhauchen, die Eingebung, die Einwirkung eines geistigen Wesens auf den menschl. Geist für einen bestimmten Zweck; im engern Sinne ist I. gleichbedeutend mit Theopneustie, Gottbegeisterung, nämlich die Einwirkung des Geistes Gottes auf den Menschen für Hervorbringung geistiger u. sittlicher Wirkungen; im engsten die Lehre, daß der Inhalt der canonischen Bücher der hl. Schrift auf einer wunderbar gegebenen göttl. Offenbarung beruhe. Auf der seit den Zeiten der Apostel fortdauernden I. des heil. Geistes beruht die Unfehlbarkeit der Kirche (s. d.). Außer der inspiratio activa, der anregenden Einwirkung Gottes auf den Menschen u. der inspiratio passiva, der Aufnahme dieser göttl. Anregung von Seite des Menschen, unterschieden die Protestanten hinsichtlich der Bibel noch eine reale und verbale und trieben diese I.stheorie sehr weit. Quenstädt behauptete geradezu, Gott selber habe die Bibel geschrieben, I. Buxtorf (s. d.) u. Gerhardt wollten mindestens wissen, daß selbst die Vocale u. Puncte im A. Test. inspirirt seien. – Vergl.
