Isouard

Isouard (Isuahr), Nicolo, gewöhnlich bloß Nicolo genannt, beliebter franz. Operncomponist, geb. 1777 auf Malta, zuerst zur Handlung bestimmt, ward nach einigen gelungenen Opern vom Großmeister nach Malta berufen als Organist und Kapellmeister u. lebte später in Paris, st. 1818. Die berühmtesten seiner Opern sind »Cendrillon« (Aschenbrödel) und »Joconde«.
