Mufti

Mufti, arab. (der Entscheider), gewöhnlich Scheikh ul Islam, d.h. Haupt der Auserwählten genannt, in der Türkei Stellvertreter des Sultans in religiösen oder sich auf das Gesetz beziehenden Dingen, folgt im Range auf den Großwesir. Seine Aussprüche u. Erklärungen heißen Fetwas, sein Secretär Fetwa-Emini.
