Percussion

Percussion, lat.-dtsch., Stoß, Schlag; in der Heilkunde jene physikalische Untersuchungsweise, welche in einem leichten Anklopfen an die Wandung einer der Körperhöhlen besteht, um aus der Art des dadurch hervorgebrachten Tons den Zustand der darunter gelegenen Organe zu ermitteln. Das Anklopfen geschieht mit der Fingerspitze auf ein auf die zu untersuchende Stelle gelegtes Plättchen von Elfenbein (Plessimeter), oder blos auf einen aufgelegten Finger der andern Hand und findet namentlich Anwendung bei Brustkrankheiten. Außer dem Tone ergibt sich durch dieselbe auch der Grad der Elasticität der Brustwandung. – Von Auenbrugger 1761 zuerst angeregt fand diese Untersuchungsweise zunächst Aufnahme und Vervollkommnung in Frankreich, erst später in Deutschland, wo sie durch Skoda in Wien aufs Höchste ausgebildet wurde.
