Aristobulus, Judas, der erste makkabäische Fürst, der den Königstitel annahm (107–105 v. Chr.). – A. II., Enkel des vorigen, Sohn des Alexander Jannäus, stritt mit seinem Bruder Hyrkanus um den Thron; Pompejus, der damals in Asien schaltete, vermittelte gewaltsam, nahm den A. gefangen und führte ihn zu Rom im Triumphe auf. Später entkam er, erregte neue Unruhen, wurde abermals nach Rom geschickt, von Cäsar aber gütig empfangen und mit 2 Legionen nach Judäa entsandt; dort vergifteten ihn die Pompejaner 50 v. Chr. – A., Enkel des vorigen, hoher Priester, von Herodes ermordet, 30 v. Chr. – A., Sohn des Herodes und der Mariamne, auf Befehl seines Vaters hingerichtet.
