Spencer , John Charles, ältester Sohn des Vorigen, geb. 1782, gest. 1845, bis 1834 Viscount Althorp, engl. Staatsmann, tüchtiger Finanzmann, 1830–34 Mitglied des Reformministeriums, trat 1834 nach dem Tode seines Vaters als Lord S. in das Oberhaus, sprach selten mehr, sehr entschieden 1843 jedoch gegen die Korngesetze; ihn beerbte sein Bruder Frederik.
