Beg oder Bei, d.h. Herr, bei den Türken der Titel höherer Militärpersonen und der Gouverneurs kleinerer Distrikte (auch Ausländer von Rang erhalten diesen Titel), während die Statthalter von Provinzen Beglerbeg (spr. Beilerbei), d.h. Herr der Herren, heißen; jene, als Zeichen der Würde, mit einem Roßschweif, diese mit dreien. Auch der Herrscher von Tunis hat den Titel B.
