Chatham (Tschattäm), engl. Stadt und Festung am Medway, 5 Meilen von London, eine der Hauptstationen der engl. Flotte, mit herrlicher Rhede, großer Schiffswerfte und dem bedeutendsten Seearsenale Englands. Die 20000 E. leben größtentheils von der Arbeit auf den Werften und im Arsenale.
