Albi, Hptstdt. des Departement des Tarn, auf einem schroffen Hügel am Tarn, 15000 E., Sitz eines Erzbischofs, Kathedrale, Seminar, College, Zeichnungsschule, Handel mit Wein, Korn, Liqueur, Gewürzen. – A. war Grafschaft seit 781, kam dann an Toulouse, 1223 an Simon von Montfort und 1226 an König Ludwig VIII.
