San Salvador

San Salvador, Staat in Centralamerika (s. d.). 1000 QM. groß, ist in die Depart. S. Miguel, S. Vicente, S. S. und Sansonato eingetheilt, zählt vielleicht 400000 E., wovon die Hälfte aus christlichen Indianern besteht. Die Verfassung ist nach dem gewöhnlichen amerikan. Zuschnitte, der Staat selten ruhig, von Nordamerika bedroht wie Nicaragua. – Die Hauptstadt S. S., mit 30000 E. wurde 16/17. April 1854 durch ein Erdbeben zerstört.
